Project Details
Judith Gardens, located in Sawtry, Cambridgeshire is a development of 295 plots for Carmac’s long-standing client Bovis Homes, Vistry East Midlands (part of the Vistry Group).
Carmac were awarded the contract at the end of 2018, and initial earthworks and enabling progressed very well.
Construction of the main infrastructure included:
- surface water drainage
- an attenuation pond
- foul drains to the pumping station with rising main off-site connecting to existing foul sewers
- one substation
- the necessary roads and footpaths to service the development.
Following a short period of delay during 2020’s COVID-19 pandemic, production restarted and Bovis Homes appointed the current site management team – with whom our management, supervisors and operatives quickly established a great working relationship.
Plot works have continued to progress well over subsequent years – with production timescales and quality objectives consistently being delivered.
Carmac’s quality of workmanship has consistently been graded the highest score possible by the NHBC – and the overall site quality, excellence of standards and health and safety controls were recently recognised, with the site receiving the NHBC Pride in the Job Award in June 2023 and the NHBC Seal of Excellence Award in October 2023.

“I have worked over many years with a number of large groundworks companies and without doubt Carmac would be my first choice groundworks company out of them all.”
